Comparing the Best Team Management Tools
When you are working with a team, it can be difficult to effectively manage your workflow. Members that are not copied on key email chains are left in the dark, and important messages get buried in overfilled inboxes.
That’s why so many companies find themselves searching for the best business management tool to keep track of ongoing projects, campaigns and tasks for each person on their team.
We’ve tested a number of these management applications and found that each one comes with its own set of pros and cons. In this article, we’ll provide an overview comparing the some of the best business management tools on the market.
Basecamp
Basecamp is a long-standing web-based project management application. With tasks, file sharing, messaging, and milestone management, this program helps teams work together toward common goals. You can access Basecamp almost anywhere and on any device.
The Basecamp management tool is currently used by more than 285,000 organizations worldwide, with several thousand companies becoming new Basecamp users every week.
Basecamp bills for the number of active projects and allows for unlimited user access at every price point. Packages start at $20 a month for 10 active projects. The next tier of pricing, which allows for 40 active projects, starts at $50 per month.
Basecamp also offers a 60 day free trial if you’re still shopping around for the best application.
Trello
Trello is a highly visual business team management application that helps you manage your projects. Trello uses boards, cards and lists, instead of the more traditional structure. This software uses a “Kanban” approach, which is a process that puts information into different cards and organizes them into a board. This allows you to see the status of everything your working on at a quick glance.
Trello is also great for collaboration. Everyone on your team can open the same board at once and changes are updated automatically and pushed to everyone else’s screen. This is ideal for managing information with people in different locations.
One weakness of Trello, is there is no good way to view everything you need to be working on. There is no full tasks list or calendar view to help keep track of priorities. Trello is great for tracking high-level projects but you may need an additional solution for tracking individual tasks.
Trello does not charge for their basic suite of services, but you may find that some additional features, such as their Power-ups, are worth the additional investment.
Flow
Flow is a task management and productivity application built for teams. You can easily tag messages and tasks, subscribe team members to important message feeds, and keep everyone in the loop. Flow works on almost all platforms, which makes it even easier for the whole team to stay connected.
Flow is user-friendly and has an uncluttered design that is refreshing. Though not as complex or full-featured as its competitors, Flow’s straightforward approach does have a certain appeal.
Flow offers a variety of pricing tiers that make this task management program a great fit for a business of any size. Plans start at $19 a month for a 3 person team.
